The Coconut tree originated in the Pacific Islands, spreading across the tropics, first by tidal currents, and later by trade. Named ‘Sriphala’ in South Asia meaning “Fruit of the gods” coconuts symbolise selflessness, kindness & prosperity. In southern India the three eyes of the coconut represent the great god Shiva.

Vanilla was deemed to be the fruit of the gods by the Ancient Totonac’s. When Xanat, the young daughter of the Mexican fertility goddess, fell in love with a Totonac mortal, the gods forbid her to see him. Her love for him was so strong that she transformed herself into the vanillin orchid, so her human lover would always be able to taste and take pleasure in her beauty. Vanilla is a powerful aphrodisiac.
