Writings of cinnamon date back to 2800 BC. The ancient Chinese used it for treating coughs, hoarseness & sore throats. Although plentiful today, in medieval times wars were fought over the popular spice. Cinnamon was used as currency & Ceylon at the time was thoughts to be the only place were it would grow. Cinnamon is native to Ceylon (Sri Lanka), dried bark from the Laurel tree. Studies have found that the scent of cinnamon can increase memory.
