Candles & Wax Lantern Accessories

Soy wax comes from the oil of soybeans.

Soybean crops are known for adding nitrogen back into the soil. Farmers will often plant a crop of Soybeans between crops of sugar cane for this reason. At Integrity Candles we grow Soy Beans on the family farm.

Once the soybeans have been harvested and processed, the naked beans are rolled into flakes and the oil is extracted. The oil is then hydrated, changing the melting point of the oil to around 50 degrees Celsius. At this point the soy oil is now soy wax.

Candle makers use soy wax because it is a completely renewable resource. Soy wax burns at lower temperatures than traditional paraffin, beeswax and palm wax candles, so they generally emit less smoke. However because the melting point is lower, pure soy wax candles will always be in containers.
